Another great night out from Basingstoke Comedy Club! Chris McCausland first tried stand up comedy at a new act comedy night in London in 2003. Within his first year he won the Jongleurs J2O Last Laugh competition, came runner up in the Laughing Horse New Act of The Year, and was placed third in Channel 4’s prestigious So You Think You’re Funny competition.
Between 2005 and 2012, he took six different stand-up shows to the Edinburgh Festival, and in 2011 was awarded the Creative Diversity Award for comedy by a Channel 4. He’s been about a bit! He’s performed all over the world, and regularly travels the United Kingdom playing the country’s top comedy clubs (like ours, obviously).
Chris is often seen on TV; in 2014, he fronted a national television advert for a major bank, to promote the benefits of their new talking cash machines. In 2014, he also starred in the Jimmy McGovern drama series Moving On. Here
Earlier this year he also appeared on BBC’s Live at the Apollo on 4th January 2018
Also appearing is Russell Hicks; whose act is described as “A rip-roaring night of tough love from a witty comedian”. Russell is widely recognised as one of the most exciting comics to come out of America.
Prolific and consistently delivering quality comedy, Russell will keep you laughing. He regularly appears at Comedy Club venues across the UK in addition to having TV credits in America.
MC for the night is Andrew Ryan – who won the 2018 Leicester Comedy Festival Best Show Award. He hails from Cork; he’s chatty cheeky and very very funny!
PRE COMEDY NOSH AND DRINKS
From 6.00pm until 7.15 the Apollo Hotel are offering HAPPY HOUR AND A QUARTER! That’s 50% off all drinks – Hoorah!
and… *fanfare* There’s even a £10 Curry Club. What do you get for that?
A choice of 3 curries – served with Pilau Rice, Naan Bread and a small beer or glass of wine. The Apollo are getting into the spirit of comedy with the following curries –
The mild one (Kenny Everett) ‘It’s all in the best possible taste.’
The hot one (Del Boy) ‘Lovely jubbly’
The hotter one (Catherine Tate) ‘How very dare you!’
There will always be a vegetarian option too. If you’re a Curry Dodger (hard to resist a poppadom though, isn’t it?) just choose something from the main menu at usual prices.
Comedy Curry Club is usually fuller than a plumber’s tool bag, so it’s best to book. Contact The Apollo on 01256 796700.
